Conversational queries: how people ask assistants and what to do about it

A question put to an assistant looks nothing like a search query: longer, in full sentences, with conditions attached. How that demand is captured and turned into answers on your pages. In search someone types three words. To an assistant the same person writes a paragraph with conditions attached — budget, constraints, what they already tried. That's a different layer of demand: those phrasings barely show up in keyword tools, they're longer and they carry context. Working with them means a different approach: instead of fitting a keyword to a page, you collect the real questions customers ask — from email, calls, forums, autocomplete — and answer them briefly and precisely in the copy. Those are the fragments that end up in assistant answers and in the people-also-ask block. This page explains how it works and how to gather the questions; implementation is part of the retainer.

This covers how conversational demand works and how to gather customer questions.

Why this matters

What happens without this work

❓

Missing from AI Overview

Google AI Overview pulls answers from top-5 organic with FAQ markup. Without conversational optimisation — missed.

🗣️

Voice search is growing

30%+ of 2026 queries are voice. They're longer and in question form. Classic content doesn't respond.

🎯

Absent from People Also Ask

PAA is the main source of conversational visibility. If you're not there, you lose 20-30% of potential traffic.

📑

FAQPage schema missing

Without FAQPage markup, Google doesn't understand your page has answers — citation drops.

🔢

Featured Snippet with competitors

Position zero = AI Overview = voice search = dominance. Competitors hold it — you lose the whole stack.

What's included

What the work consists of

Question query analysis

We find all question clusters in your niche — 'how', 'why', 'how much', 'when'.

FAQ architecture

We build comprehensive FAQ pages with FAQPage schema — the primary source for conversational AI answers.

Featured snippets

We optimise for position zero — exactly what Google uses for AI Overviews.

Voice search

Voice queries are the most conversational form of search. We adapt content for it.

PAA analysis

'People Also Ask' — source of conversational queries and foundation for content strategy.

Long-tail dialogues

Long conversational queries have lower competition but high conversion.

Methodology

How it works, step by step

01

Discovery & audit

We map your current AI/SEO landscape: what works, what's broken, where competitors lead. Tools: GSC, Ahrefs, MarketMuse, custom NEXUS agents for AI-mention monitoring.

02

Strategy & roadmap

90-day execution plan with clear KPIs, weekly milestones, and dependency mapping. You see exactly what we do each week and what success looks like.

03

Implementation

Our team executes — content, technical, link building, AI-specific work. Your team focuses on the business. Weekly status calls keep you informed without micromanagement.

04

Measurement & iteration

Real metrics every week: rankings, AI citations, traffic, conversions. We don't hide behind vanity metrics. If something underperforms — we pivot fast.

05

Optimisation at scale

Once a tactic proves out, we automate it (NEXUS agents) and scale across all your assets. Manual work doesn't survive long with us.

06

Strategic review (quarterly)

Every 90 days: full strategy review, competitor benchmark, AI landscape updates, next-quarter planning. You always know where we're heading and why.

Pricing

What it costs

AI search work

part of the retainer from $1,500/mo

We don't sell AI search as a separate package: preparing a site to be quoted by assistants is part of the SEO retainer. The scope is set after a free audit of the project.

We take it standalone in one case only — another vendor runs your SEO and you need the AI part. On our pricing page that's AI-search adaptation, from $1,000/mo.

What the price depends on

  • How many prompts and which assistants we track
  • How much of the site has to be rewritten for direct answers
  • Whether the brand already has external mentions or we build them
  • Ongoing monitoring or one-time preparation

Being cited cannot be guaranteed: the answer is generated anew on every request.

Comparison

AI/GEO vs traditional SEO

Both have their place. Most clients need a hybrid. Here's how they differ.

Traditional SEO

  • • Targets Google, Yandex, Bing organic
  • • Keyword-centric: title, H1, meta, content
  • • Link building, technical health, content velocity
  • • Movement shows later: search results change slowly
  • • Checked in Search Console and Yandex Webmaster

AI / GEO NEW

  • • Targets ChatGPT, Perplexity, Gemini, AI Overview
  • • Entity-centric: brand recognition by LLMs
  • • Citation engineering, Knowledge Graph, PR
  • • Movement shows earlier: assistant answers are rebuilt constantly
  • • Checked against a fixed query list, re-run each month

Most of our clients run both in parallel: SEO for compounding long-term moat, AI/GEO for capturing the new generation of AI-mediated search.
