Google Search Console

Free Google tool for monitoring indexation, rankings, errors, and submitting sitemap.

Full definition

Google Search Console (GSC) is Google's free service for webmasters. The main technical SEO tool: indexation monitoring, rankings, errors, and sitemap submission.

What it shows

  • •Performance — clicks, impressions, CTR, avg position per query and page
  • •Pages (Indexing) — which pages are indexed, which excluded and why
  • •Sitemaps — sitemap submission, processing status
  • •Removals — emergency URL removal from search
  • •Core Web Vitals — report on real user metrics
  • •Mobile Usability — mobile adaptation issues
  • •Manual Actions — manual penalties from Google's team
  • •Links — who links to you (external) and your internal structure

How to connect

1. Visit search.google.com/search-console 2. Add a property: Domain (recommended) or URL-prefix 3. Verify ownership via: DNS record, HTML file, meta tag, Google Analytics, or Tag Manager 4. Submit sitemap.xml

Main uses

  • •Weekly: review Performance report — which queries are rising/falling
  • •On deploy: review Pages report — any sudden error spike
  • •After Google updates: compare Performance before/after
  • •When publishing new content: request indexation via "URL Inspection"

URL Inspection

The most useful tool. Enter any URL of your site → see: indexed or not, last crawl date, robots.txt status, noindex presence, canonicalization, which schema.org markup Google detected.
