llms.txt
New standard file (2025) at site root telling LLM models about site structure and priority pages.
Full definition
llms.txt — a proposed standard from 2024 for a file at the site root (https://example.com/llms.txt) that tells large language models about the site's structure and key pages.
Conceptually it's a "sitemap for AI": a Markdown format describing sections and key URLs.
Why it matters
- •LLM models don't always index large sites correctly. llms.txt gives them a compact description: what the site is about, key sections, important documents. Helps with:
- •Quick context understanding
- •Citations in AI search (Perplexity, ChatGPT)
- •Correct brand representation in Knowledge Graph

By mid-2026 llms.txt is officially read by Anthropic (Claude), partially by OpenAI and Perplexity. Google and Bing haven't officially confirmed, but it's recommended — zero overhead, potential upside.
